I recently worked with the most amazing couple. The bride, in particular, was such a great person and I had the most wonderful time taking her photos. Her personality really shows in these pre-wedding photos that I took of her and her bridesmaids [and one bridesman]. The wedding ceremony was at the Brazilian Room. This area of Tilden Park in Berkeley is really popular for weddings, they do a ton of weddings here! I’ve shot many weddings at the Brazilian Room, perhaps you have seen some of my previous wedding galleries?
Anyway, the Botanic Gardens is right down the street from the Brazilian Room. It’s more often then not that a couple getting married at the Brazilian Room will take photos, at some point whether before the wedding or after, at the Botanic Garden. I called it the Botanical Gardens, but it’s clear from the sign posted in the front that the actual name is Botanic Garden.
I think you are going to get a kick out of these wedding photos! I’m really happy with them. I also want to point out that NO PHOTOSHOP was done on any of these images! They are pretty much straight out of the camera with the exception of some that I purposely tweaked.
All the images presented here were only processed in Lightroom! No Photoshop! I can do a lot with Lightroom and I refer to this as LEVEL 1 processing. At Level 1, I can do color adjustments, soft focus, black and white, sepia, vignette and more. Pleasetake a look at the photos and let me know what you think!
Are these wedding photos taken at the Botanic Gardens natural enough for you? Remember, there was no Photoshop done to these photos. It’s pretty much out of the camera. I use mostly natural light but just a little off camera flash for a kicker, or eye-light as they call it.
The shot below is the bride in transit to the next photo stop. Sepia tone is done in Lightroom and is considered Level 1 processing.
As we were talking, I saw this cool wooden door and I asked the bride to stand there and look natural.
These next few shots really show how fun the Bride and her Bridesmaids and one Bridesman were.
There are so many great places to take photos in this Regional Parks Botanic Gardens at Tilden Park Berkeley, CA. In fact, I have another gallery of images coming up where I took the bride and groom down, deep into the park. There’s a creek and a few cool bridges down there. Although it does get a bit muddy which is why we didn’t go down there at this point. Some of the shots you saw above were taken on wet grass. I always ask the bride and bridal party if they mind going on the wet grass as the ladies high heels tend to sink into the grass and it gets very hard for the girls to stand.
I hope you enjoyed these wedding photos. I had a blast taking them. I hope that I arrive at the opportunity of taking your wedding photos. Please contact me if you like what I do.
