These are pics from a very recent wedding in July of 2010. There were several locations involved in the wedding, all of which were right smack dab in the heart of Wine country in Sonoma, CA. The wedding reception was at the Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma, CA. However, the bride first gets ready at the Lodge in Sonoma. This is a hotel just off highway 12 as you drive into downtown Sonoma.
The ceremony took place at a nice Catholic church called St. Francis Solano Church in downtown Sonoma, CA. They didn’t allow any flash during the actual ceremony but this is typical which most churches. Besides, the flash doesn’t help you much anyway for wide shots like this. A great photographer must know how to use the ambient light to their advantage.
After the ceremony, I took the wedding court to the Sonoma Town Square. This is the main area you see when you drive into downtown. There are many photo opportunities at the Town Square in Sonoma.
As previously mentioned, the wedding reception took place at the Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma. They have the reception in the barrel room and the cocktail hour is in the courtyard. Of course, the grounds of the Sebastiani make for great photo opps. Here are some of the wedding pictures I took of them on the grounds before they made their grand entrance.
I also took some wonderful photos of the bride and groom by themselves, without the bridal party. The photo below was taken in the grove just before you enter into the vineyards. I really like how the trees frame the couple.
Below are two my favorite pics of the day. Even though the shot is really basic, the emotion and joy on the bride and groom’s face is clearly present and captured in the pic. Much of the success of your wedding day photos lies within your ability to feel at ease with your photographer. My easy going personality makes it really ease for my clients to feel comfortable with me and then I can get photos like this.
And finally, The Sebastiani Winery. What a great place to have your wedding. The barrel room is quite dark but that’s ok because I know how to shoot in low light venues.
